FortyFour Steel | Avon OH

Founder, Jason Ratcliff, takes influences from the industrial revolution and creates clean modern execution with an emphasis on handmade quality

A native of Cleveland’s Westside,  Jason grew up playing with Lego’s and building models. Forty Four Steel was born out of Jason’s technical design background and a family history of building industrial process equipment. Jason’s influences are late 18th and early 19th century industrial revolution era machinery that has a heavy feel to it. Durable and innovative products that were known for there strength and quality along works of both Victor Schreckengost and Frank Lloyd Wright drives Jason’s work at Forty Four Steel.

“My style is definitely industrial. I am drawn to raw steel and the many colors, patterns, and textures you can create with it. I also work in stainless steel, aluminum, and wood. I create original pieces as well as taking vintage parts and incorporating them into my style. I try to hide or grind as many of my welds as possible. I always design and build my furniture for a clean smooth look with all the same tools used in an industrial job.”
